sneak preview

My final collection is complete and I've selected a range contrasting in form and scale but all working together in a sense of texture, theme and colour. Within my final collection for the CREO showcase I will have a group of small pieces as well as larger pieces which will stand on wooden plinths.

The piece above is a sneak preview and will feature in my final show/collection. I created this through the coiling technique and used my own techniques and recipes to add colour and texture. Hope you like!!!!

studio space

As part of our final marking we have to set up all supporting work/sketchbooks/research/samples in our studio. This works in conjunction with our final show but is a more in depth set up. I've used a double desk space to select certain pieces whilst using the underneath for original tests and samples. The images on the backdrop are my personal photos which have inspired my full project.

The two large vessels on the right are my most recent coiled pieces and reflect my latest developments; these match the pieces which will feature in my final show!

last weeks photography...

As well as my own business cards we've been busy on the Dec Arts course getting work organised for the brochure which everyone will be able to see at the Degree show. Each student has a double page spread in the brochure...the ideas for photos were to have a composition piece which contains inspiring objects/tools/samples etc and the second photo which covers an entire page is a more close up shot, focusing on detail within 1 of our pieces...Yasmin Ensor did a really good job of taking all the photos for our brochure...have a look at her work on facebook.

Above is my composition layout...I included on of my most relevant drawings which I feel communicates my inspiration and shows how I portray this through my ceramics. I then added my main tools...not many as all my pieces are built by hand, I use the metal, wooden and rubber kidneys to smooth the surface slightly and push the form into shape. I've also included one of my very first favourite pieces, produced from my small push mould. The glaze tiles are all tones which I have developed and will use throughout my show!

This is the close up, detailed image taken from one of my recent pieces. This image will cover an entire page, revealing the textured surface and combination of tones where one glaze meets another.

business cards have arrived!!!

MY BUSINESS CARDS ARE HERE!

I'm getting myself prepared for our Creo degree show which will open for the first night to the industry on the 29th May!

My cards will be alongside my display during the show and contain all my contact information. There are different images of work and each card contains my logo.

I've been really busy the past few weeks in the run up to deadlines and setting up the degree show. Our final Dec Arts deadline is this Monday coming...all of my pieces are out the kiln now and I'm really happy with my final collection!

I'm currently working out the set-up/layout of my space for the show...thinking of plinths for my larger pieces and a shelf which I plan to make this week, for my small collection.

Here is a sample of one of my business cards....
