A little help...

Throughout the Dec Arts course we have to write a business plan or dissertation on a topic of our choice! I've opted for the business plan as I aim to set up my own business somewhere down the line!

There is a lot of market research involved in writing the business plan and I have a survey which will only take 2 mins to complete! It's be a major help to my research...I need as many complete as poss so send this around! :)

Just click here to fill out the survey.

Thanks a lot guys!

Auction antics

Our course auction this week was a success! We managed to raise over £500 towards our degree show , selling our own piecess!!

Edin's Natural Kitchen in Hockley was the perfect venue...we had the top floor/room to ourselves which  had a great long wooden table, shelving and rustic walls! We decorated the space with fairy lights and bought  tasty drinks from the cafe downstairs.

The piece I auctioned was from a project i completed  last year on the Dec Arts course, they we're slip cast, hand formed mussel shells which wer porcelain, decorated with a white glaze and sprinkles of oxides! I connected the two shell vessels with a small metal hoop and have a snap of these below along with a few other pictures from the night!!

Thanks to everyone that came!!! :)

These are the porcelain slip cast shells I donated towards the fundraising evening! Taken from my project last year based on natural life forms.

current project...

My main inspiration for my current/final project is based around my images of old, ruined surfaces, derelict structures and naturally worn textures. I want to depict the natural damage and state within the old structures, walls and surfaces of the buildings I have captured, creating new pieces inspired by these forms. My aim is to create worn, fragile pinch and coiled pots, focusing mainly on their texture and surface, using different materials and glaze recipes to reflect my initial inspiration. I plan to incorporate wire into my work to act as a frame/structure, as well as providing a contrast in texture and surface, different to the clay. I plan to form a final collection, consisting of a range of scaled pieces which are all decorative home ware vessels, both functional and non-functional.

early days...

I'm currently in the process of getting my blog up and running so you can see all my latest ideas, pieces and what's going on! It's only early days at the moment but it shouldn't be long before everythings up and running!
